Wat onze gasten zeggen
Just back from a great stay with Elma and Mark at Les Deux Velos.
The lodge is perfectly located for cycling and hiking/riding, and Mark and Elma are able... read more to advise where to go etc.
The lodge itself is comfortable and has some cool arty stuff, but not luxurious. It does however, have a lot of features that are geared to the needs of the exercising guests: our shower had full body massage setting, the room has hanging space for drying out post exercise clothes (and a bucket or the option of using the washing machine for 5 euro), they will even organise a sports masseure to come in if you want, and the meals... My word the meals. Three courses with wine every night designed to restock energy. Elma is a great cook. You'll need to exercise a lot of be able to do it justice. Breakfast and plenty of coffee is provided in the evening. The day we left a group were getting up at 5.30 to drive out for an epic ride and Mark and Elma laid on an early breakfast.
Oh, the wifi and the many books (mostly in Dutch, though), were nice touches.
And, you don't even need to pack your own bike. They have new, good bikes to hire for 20 euro a day.

I've stayed at Les Deux Velos in September 2009 and 2010 and have had a wonderful time cycling the local Cols. Mark and Elma are extremely good hosts, not... read more only providing excellent meals, sourced from their vegie garden, but also providing lots of advice on roads and local circuits. Mark is a keen rider and enjoys accompanying guests on rides and advising which restaurants to stop at for lunch. If you break down he is willing to perform rescue missions (I broke 5 spokes in a cycling accident rendering the rear wheel non-operational). Mark was willing to drive for 2.5 hours past the Port de Pailheres to perform the rescue. I would recommend the lodge to anyone who enjoys cycling and walking. There are other guests on site and for the single cyclist you will find other people to ride with. The cave paintings near Tarascon sur Ariege are definately worth a visit. A local cycling jersey (Ariegeoise ride) can be purchased from the Tourist Information office in Tarascon.

Mark and Elma are so friendly and welcoming that you instantly feel at home here.
The lodge is spotlessly clean and stylishly decorated with plenty of places to sit and relax outside in the sun or inside on comfy sofas.
A delicious three course meal with wine and coffee is included in the price of the stay. Elma is such a great cook that it's a pleasure to come and stay here and enjoy her food.
Breakfast is amazing with a wide range of croissants, bread, yogurt, fromage frais, meats, cheeses, fruit and cereal. Everything a cyclist needs to fuel their ride!
This is the third time I've stayed here and already I'm planning to come back and stay again.
